Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an Independent Living Advisor to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering the Gloucestershire and Cheltenham region. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting older people to maintain their independence, wellbeing, and quality of life.

You will be working 28 hours per week, over 5 days, Monday - Friday. There is some flexibility around the working hours, this will be discussed during the interview.

Reporting to the Independent Living Manager, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality housing management services across our sheltered schemes. You will build strong relationships with residents, support prospective tenants through viewings and the moving-in process, and ensure residents fully understand their tenancy agreements, including their rights and responsibilities.

You will also provide advice and guidance on accessing financial support, including housing-related benefits, and signpost or refer residents to appropriate services such as assistive technology, property adaptations, or additional support where needed. As part of your day-to-day responsibilities, you will carry out scheme inspections, ensure health and safety standards are met, and monitor contractor performance to maintain high service delivery standards.

As this is a floating role, flexibility to travel across schemes in Gloucestershire and Cheltenham is essential. A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is required. Mileage expenses are reimbursed at 45p per mile for business travel.

What we are looking for:
  • Experience of supporting older people and promoting independent living
  • A strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Good administrative and numeracy skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
If you are interested in making a real difference, please review the role profile and create your application today.

This role is subject to a basic DBS check, funded by the organisation.
