Weekend Working Yes - on a standby and callout basis

We are looking for an Independent Living Officer to join the team delivering the Lifeline and Sheltered Housing service to older people in the Harrogate area.

The post is initially temporary as the service offer is currently being reviewed.

You will have your own Lifeline clients living in the community that you will visit regularly, and you will also help with providing cover for the council's six sheltered housing schemes in the area, carrying out weekday morning wellbeing checks and simple building management tasks when required.

You will install, test and maintain basic telecare equipment for customers both in the community and in sheltered housing schemes.

In addition, you will be part of a rota providing a 24-hour emergency response service to customers in the former Harrogate district, which will mainly involve responding to any fire alarm activations on sheltered schemes and occasionally dealing with urgent equipment issues. Additional standby and callout payments are made for providing this cover outside normal office hours.

Ideally you will have a customer service or care background which includes dealing with older people, and you must have a full driving licence and a vehicle available for work, for which you will be paid a car use allowance for business mileage.
