The salary for this permanent IRO role is up to £58,959 per annum.
Main duties:
- To chair and record outcomes of reviews for children who are looked after in foster placements, adoptive placements, residential establishments or placed at home with parents while subject to a care order and, as a result, confirming the care plan, in accordance with requirements of legislation and IRO guidance and SCC policy and procedures.
- To write a letter to child following CLA Reviews detailing the outcome of the review.
- To chair Child Protection Conferences in accordance with the SET Child Protection Procedures.
- To ensure all meetings are focused on outcomes for the child. That they are held using Restorative Practice Principles and that blaming, judgemental and discriminatory language is challenged.
- To proactively seek the views and wishes of children and parents and give these due considering in the chairing of meetings and making of plans and recommendations.
- To facilitate meaningful engagement of children and young people in meetings.
- To facilitate meaningful engagement of parents, carers and those with parental responsibility in meetings.
- To facilitate meaningful engagement of all professional agencies involved in the planning for the child.
- To monitor the progress of plans for all children in accordance with SCC procedures. To speak to children and parents, where appropriate, and to social worker of the child, as part of this monitoring function.
- To raise any concerns about the progression of plans for children with the relevant social workers and manager. If concerns are not addressed to consider using formal escalation processes.
- To ensure there is no delay in the recording of case notes and meeting outcomes.
- To chair other meetings which may be required from time to time for example LADO management of allegations meetings, child in need meetings.
- To participate in staff training and development.
- To be familiar with Equal Opportunities good practice and the Council requirements requirments for diversity and to implement this in all aspects of working practice and promote it in the workplace and wider organisation.
- To demonstrate the Council's values and behaviours in each interaction.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post.
- Degree or Equivalent in Social Work.
- Current Social Work England Registration.
- Post Qualifying Social Work Experience.
