Our Learning and Development team is seeking a Learning and Development Advisor to join their team. You don't need to have stepped foot in a publisher's before to work with us, we're interested in bringing in new perspectives and challenging our thinking and ways of doing things.

You'll be leading the ongoing development and delivery of learning opportunities as part of The Academy - a comprehensive suite of offerings available to colleagues; including workshops, mentoring, and online learning. You'll partner with expert trainers and teams across our business to create exceptional learning experiences and be the go-to person for learning queries. You'll lead our company mentoring programmes and support colleagues undertaking professional qualifications and external training.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project plan The Academy activities across the year, including advertising, workshop scheduling, and managing timelines.
  • Manage the learning offerings, build strong trainer relationships, and create internal communications.
  • Partner with internal and external training providers to ensure high-quality learning offerings.
  • Facilitate two bitesize internal workshops: Build a Book and Focus Plan Prioritise.
  • Oversee the evaluation and review process, including designing evaluation methods and reviewing feedback.
  • Develop new learning offerings or content as needed, collaborating with relevant teams and experts.
  • Establish strong relationships with colleagues, managers, and HR Generalists to support learning needs.
  • Manage the company mentoring programmes, including communications, application process, and briefings.
  • Coordinate approvals and booking for professional study support and external training requests.
  • Record and track Academy spend against the budget, highlighting any over or under spend.
What you will bring:

  • Relevant experience in a learning and development or people-based role.
  • Experience managing programmes, courses, or events.
  • Some experience curating and designing blended learning solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan ahead and manage projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative thinker and pragmatic doer, able to translate ideas into practical solutions.
  • Proactive approach, able to move ideas forward and spot potential obstacles.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to connect and collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to guide, support, and challenge as needed.
  • Evidence of building strong relationships across levels and departments.
  • Sound judgement and ability to work autonomously to solve problems.
  • Curiosity to learn and apply insights about teams, roles, and the business to the learning offering.

So, we don't have a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to how we work across Penguin Random House UK.

For this role, there are regular meetings and activities that you will need to attend in person mainly at our offices in London. Outside of these moments, you can choose to work remotely. We are happy to discuss this arranging further with you during the recruitment process.

What you can expect from us:

Salary: circa £35,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
