An exciting opportunity hasarisen for a compassionate, enthusiastic, motivated, hardworking individual,with a mental health or Learning disability nursing, mental health occupationaltherapy or social work professional background to join the Homeless MentalHealth service. Providing engagement, assessment, support & access totreatment services for people who are homeless, the role requires some streetoutreach to people rough sleeping, alongside the Council housing outreachteams.

This can involve significantwalking, working in inclement weather, and often in challenging environmentsand potentially occasional limited out of hours working (6am start). Applicantsmust be prepared to undertake required duties as part of the HMHS. This postwill require working primarily across Charnwood, NW Leicestershire, Hinckley& Blaby districts along with city centre clinics & street outreach, soideally would suit someone living in the west / North West of Leicester /Leicestershire, in order to reduce home to work travel time and associatedcosts.

Operating from variouslocations and some home working. The core working pattern is Monday to Friday8.30am to 4.30pm. Work may dictate some occasional out of hours working(enhancements paid).

Main duties of the job

The team is an active partnerwithin the wider multi-agency statutory & voluntary sector homelessservices within Leicester City, and as such the successful applicant would beexpected to help facilitate this partnership, as well as assisting to developthe service and similar partnerships across the wider counties of Leicestershire& Rutland.

As the service develops across these districts the work will beallocated around existing staff locations to reduce mileage and travel time,however on occasion cover may be required for colleagues in other areasCandidates will need to demonstrate an ability to provide care for peoplepresenting with mental health difficulties within a variety of settingsincluding day centres, hostels & temporary accommodation and general publicsettings (street outreach).

Excellent assessment, risk management,organisational and communication skills are essential along with a good workingknowledge of community care & Hospital admission & discharge process.The ability to use your initiative, work autonomously and manage your timeeffectively is required along with the ability to work as part of a team andwider multi-agency homeless services.
