We are seeking to appoint a Neighbourhood Housing Officer on a fixed-term contract for two years to join our Neighbourhood Housing Team within Housing and Property Services. Reporting to the Neighbourhood Housing Manager, this role is central to maintaining safe, well-managed estates across North Tyneside. The post holder will directly engage with tenants, leaseholders, residents, and community groups to ensure tenancy sustainment, address tenancy breaches, and support thriving communities.
The Neighbourhood Housing Team delivers high-quality, customer-focused housing management services that benefit tenants and residents across the borough. We work collaboratively with internal departments, elected members, and external agencies to provide safe, sustainable, and inclusive neighbourhoods while supporting the Council's wider housing and community objectives.
The core responsibility of the post holder is to manage all aspects of tenancy and estate management within a defined area. This includes change of tenancy sign-ups, early intervention to prevent tenancy failure, enforcement of tenancy conditions, safeguarding vulnerable residents, conducting estate inspections, and contributing to community engagement and improvement initiatives. The officer will ensure compliance with housing legislation, Council policies, and health and safety standards while supporting performance and service delivery objectives.

You will build strong relationships with residents and tenants, acting as a trusted point of contact and advocate. You will work closely with colleagues and multi-agency partners to resolve tenancy and neighbourhood issues, deliver estate improvement initiatives, and support residents' wellbeing, ensuring the highest professional standards are maintained.

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan
In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council's operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government's net zero target of 2050.
We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can't do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us. Together we can make North Tyneside a sustainable place to live and work for everyone in the borough.
