We are seeking 4 fulltime and 1 part time (18.5 hours) Neighbourhood Officers to join the Homelessness and Supported Housing at this time of transformation.

We are reshaping delivery of services, with a focus on prevention, early intervention and supporting residents across Sheffield.

These posts will be in the Temporary Accommodation Team. You will provide high quality, strengthbased housing and non-housing related support to customers.

The Role:

You will be responsible for a caseload of properties and temporary households, assisting them to source permenant housing whilst managing their temporary home.

You will support your customers primarily through home visits, and spend much of your time in the your neighbourhood "patch".

You will referring on to specialist services where needed, and collaborate with Council teams and external partners. You will support with sensitive issues such as safeguarding, substance misuse and mental health.

Your tenancy management role will include investigating anti-social behaviour and harrassment concerns, ensuring access for repairs and maintenance, and addressing rent arrears.

You will support tenants with utility bills, Housing Benefit claims, and other tenancy resposnibilities.

You must have fluent English verbal and written skills, to communicate complex information to customers.

You will use computer database and webbased systems to record and report.

The Temporary Accommodation team is a fast-paced service, and you will need to be able to manage your time well and stay calm in a challenging environment.

You will provide timely, empathic and efficient responses about a range of enquiries, to meet the best outcomes for Sheffield residents.

You will be part of a rota which staffs several customer-facing offices.

The current opening hours are 7.45am to 5.15pm, so some flexibility around working hours is required.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.

If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
