Policy manager - regional engagement and devolution
The Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) is the independent voice for housing and the home of professional standards. Our mission is simple but powerful: to support housing professionals to create a future where everyone has a place to call home.
We’re looking for a dynamic policy manager on regional engagement and devolution to join us at an exciting time of change. With devolution and local government reform reshaping the policy landscape, this is your opportunity to help position CIH at the heart of regional and local housing debates—and ensure the voice of our members drives real impact.
In this role you will:
- Shape CIH’s policy and practice on devolution, local government reform, and regional housing priorities.
- Build strong, influential relationships with combined authorities, local government, housing organisations, and CIH members across the country.
- Bring members’ voices to the table, ensuring regional experiences inform national housing policy.
- Create high-quality outputs—from briefings and consultation responses to blogs, webinars, and events—that influence decision-makers and spark debate.
- Represent CIH with authority at regional and national forums, becoming a trusted voice for housing professionals.
- Contribute to CIH’s wider policy leadership, supporting a forward-thinking, collaborative team.
About you
We’re looking for someone with:
- A strong understanding of housing policy and local government.
- A good grasp of the opportunities and challenges devolution brings.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence presenting ideas and facilitating engagement with a range of audiences.
- Experience working with local/combined authorities, housing organisations, or in place-based policy work.
- A collaborative, flexible mindset with the ability to spot opportunities and drive change.
Why join us?
This is a new and dynamic role at the cutting edge of housing and devolution. You’ll have the chance to work directly with regional leaders and members, shaping CIH’s policy voice and ensuring housing professionals influence the decisions that matter. Join us—and help shape the future of housing across England’s regions.
