Essex County Council are delighted to be supporting Harlow District Council to recruit a temporary Private Sector Housing Officer on an initial 6-month basis. Please note that this post requires the successful candidates to be based on site 4 days per week.
Harlow is a district of contrasts and an ideal location to both live and work. The town itself is thriving, with excellent shopping and leisure facilities for all ages. We have good road links to the M11 and M25 and excellent rail connections to London and Stansted Airport, just 35 minutes and 20 minutes away from Harlow respectively.
The role:
Harlow Council are looking for a Housing Practitioner to work in the Private Sector Housing Team undertaking inspection and enforcement work.
The Authority welcomes applications from both Technical Officers and EHOs with relevant Housing Enforcement or Licensing experience.
Full-time hours are preferred, but strong part-time candidates will still be considered.

- Extensive knowledge of Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- Broad knowledge of the Housing Act 2004
- Experience inspecting residential and multi-occupied properties, including fire safety compliance
- HHSRS qualification is essential
