The successful candidate will be required to be available outside of services normal working hours as part of a standby rota to respond to out of hours service needs. A standardised standby payment will be made in respect of these duties.

About the Post:

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer focussed Senior Homeless Prevention Officer who will provide advice, guidance and support to a pro-active Housing Options Team responsible for preventing homelessness and carrying out the Council's responsibilities to customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness under its statutory duties. The role involves managing a team of staff focussed on the prevention of homelessness, ensuring high quality casework standards are adhered to as well as supporting performance management frameworks.

You will work across partners to find innovative ways to prevent homelessness and support people to resolve their housing issues. You will be required to create links with a range of accommodation providers including private landlords, social housing and supported housing providers to reduce the potential for homelessness for existing residents where this is possible and reasonable to do so, and to improve access to accommodation and support. You will p rovide and co-ordinate support strategies for those who are vulnerable or at risk of vulnerability through attendance at case conferences, vulnerable adults and children's panels and safeguarding

The role has a strong focus on preventing homelessness, partnership working, performance management and delivering a high-quality customer service.

You will require excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing and have working knowledge of the homelessness and other relevant legislation. You will be an excellent team player with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Experience of casework audits and advocacy is essential as well as supervisory responsibility.
