The Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP) was announced as part of the cross-cutting government strategy Ending Rough Sleeping for Good. SHAP is a funding programme under the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) with the aim of increasing the supply of good quality, specialist supported accommodation and housing-led approaches to address gaps in homelessness pathway provision.

Doncaster is looking for a case worker to deliver care and support to those accommodated within this project. The post will sit within the Doncaster Complex Lives Team, which is made up of dedicated front line case workers, providing capacity to identify, engage, triage, and provide a support plan with a focus on recovery, resettlement, empowerment, and inclusion.

The people which the team work with have a combination of mutually reinforcing challenges including homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, offending behaviour, mental ill health, poor physical health, including sex workers. People in these situations have often experienced childhood trauma, family breakdown, domestic abuse, and other major life changing events. The team works flexibly and provides personalised responses to individual strengths and needs a strongly asset-based approach.
