Job Introduction

Experienced Social Worker - Youth Homelessness & No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Team

A unique opportunity to be part of something new

Are you an experienced social worker who wants the time, support and autonomy to do quality social work?

Do you enjoy working with young people facing complex challenges and want to be part of a specialist service that focuses on achieving the right outcomes rather than simply managing demand?

Bradford Children and Families Trust is creating a dedicated Youth Homelessness and No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Team, bringing together specialist expertise to support some of our most vulnerable young people and families.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, highly skilled team at the beginning of its journey. You will have the chance not only to undertake meaningful direct work but also to help shape and develop a new model of practice across the Trust.

About the role

The team will work with:
  • Young people aged 16 and 17 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
  • Young people presenting without safe accommodation or suitable care arrangements.
  • Children and families subject to No Recourse to Public Funds legislation.
  • Complex cases requiring specialist assessment, intervention and multi-agency partnership working.
This is a role for social workers who enjoy working creatively, building relationships and applying strong analytical skills to achieve sustainable outcomes for young people and families.

Why join this team?

Unlike many frontline social work roles, this service will operate as a small specialist team, providing practitioners with:
  • Manageable caseloads that allow for meaningful intervention.
  • Regular reflective supervision and management support.
  • Direct access to experienced managers who are committed to practitioner development.
  • Opportunities to influence and shape a developing service.
  • Specialist training and professional development in youth homelessness, NRPF legislation, human rights and safeguarding practice.
  • Strong partnership working with Housing, Legal Services, Family Help, Leaving Care, Education and Health colleagues.
  • A culture that values professional curiosity, relationship-based practice and good social work.
What we're looking for

We are seeking experienced social workers who:
  • Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child-centred practice.
  • Are confident undertaking complex assessments and making balanced decisions.
  • Have experience of working with adolescents, contextual safeguarding, homelessness, exploitation or vulnerable young people.
  • Can build effective relationships with young people who may be distrustful of services.
  • Want to develop specialist knowledge and contribute to service innovation.
Experience of NRPF or youth homelessness work is desirable but not essential. We are particularly interested in practitioners who bring strong values, sound judgement and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and young people.

What you can expect

This is more than just another social work role.
  • It is an opportunity to join a service that is investing in specialist practice from the outset. We recognise that excellent outcomes for young people are achieved when social workers feel supported, professionally respected and equipped to do their best work.
  • If you are looking for a role where you can deepen your expertise, influence service development and make a real difference to the lives of young people facing some of the most difficult circumstances, we would love to hear from you.
