The purpose of this role is to deliver an industry leading place-based approach to environmental and asset planning for a defined county area as part of a county delivery squad. Applying an integrated and holistic approach to the delivery of our end-to-end service for their county for the next 25 years.

The role will lead the development of a new generation of long-term county-based asset plans, as well as leading the development of long term outcome based strategies, supporting the translation of these strategies into the county model.

These plans will then need to be formalised into our regulatory submissions such as the Price Review, WRMP/DWMP, drought plans and long term water quality plans.
  • Understand, integrate and communicate operational, strategic and regulatory risks within the county to provide a clear indication of long-term performance at a facility level
  • Develop adaptive plans for the county, considering a range of potential future scenarios
  • Development of county-based information for key regulatory submissions including the WRMP, DWMP, LTDS and other Price Review submissions
  • Work as part of the county squad team to ensure that long term context is available and communicated to support decision making. This will include working from the county hub and attending key meetings as required
  • Sponsor long term strategic projects
  • Work in partnership and support the Risk Manager to ensure alignment between short term needs and long-term ambitions for the business
  • Knowledge of water or wastewater activities, modelling, catchment-based approach, DWMP, WRMP, Price Review processes and environmental assessments
  • Thorough understanding of the impact of water or wastewater activities on our customers and key stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical reasoning, project management skills, negotiating skills, influencing skills, financial skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills with experience of planning and delivering effective communications strategies and directing work
Essential Qualifications
  • A degree or post graduate qualification in a science or environmental discipline or have significant relevant experience in operational management of the water or wastewater system.
  • Must have a valid driving licence
  • The Wastewater Planning and Performance team provides strategic insight and expertise to drive performance across wastewater services
  • Collaborating across Wastewater operations, Asset Management and the wider business
  • Driving the future of wastewater within operations to drive a stronger, greener, healthier North West
