In this pivotal role, you'll be at the forefront of designing and delivering long-term county-based asset plans and outcome-driven strategies, ensuring they translate into meaningful action and feed into critical regulatory submissions, including price review and drainage waste management plan (DWMP).
- Long-Term Planning & Strategy: Coordinate the development of the county's long-term asset plan, translating regional strategies into county priorities and creating adaptive plans for a range of future scenarios.
- Regulatory & Risk Management: Prepare county-level inputs for key regulatory submissions (DWMP, LTDS, Price Reviews) and ensure the business is ready for upcoming reviews.
- Performance & Risk Management: Assess Operational, strategic, and regulatory risks, support AMP performance, and align short-term delivery with long-term ambitions.
- Technical Leadership: Act as strategic lead for key performance areas (e.g. flooding, water quality) or asset classes (e.g. pumping stations, treatment works), providing long-term asset performance forecasts and options analysis.
- Collaboration & Partnerships: Work within the county squad, alongside AL&S, Place-Based Planning and Risk Managers to inform decisions and build long-term partnership opportunities.
- Representation & Influence: Sponsor strategic projects, support programme/project sponsors, and represent the company with external stakeholders on strategic issues.
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in a science of environmental subject, or equivalent experience in managing wastewater operations.
- Ability to think strategically and apply this across all levels of the business.
- Strong understanding of wastewater operations, including modelling, catchment-based approaches and environmental considerations.
- Demonstrate knowledge of business finance and related procedures.
- In-depth awareness of how wastewater activities affect customers and key stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, project management, negotiation, influencing, and financial skills.
- Demonstrate the commitment to continuous learning and personal development to enhance role performance.
