There's a lot happening in Derby right now and our dynamic Estates team are driving exciting projects forward, like the Station Quater and the Market Place.
We're growing our Estates team and have some great opportunities, including a Strategic Asset Manager role, which is key to our corporate property strategy. As well as ongoing and upcoming projects, we manage over 1400 assets and have a rent role in excess of £3 million per annum, so if you're a strategic thinker with strong collaboration skills, you'd be ideal to help lead and develop our corporate property strategy.

The Opportunity
In the role of Strategic Asset Manager, here's an example of what you'll be doing to make an impact:
You will play a key role within our Estates Team and your expertise will help to develop our corporate property strategy, ensuring that we are operating at optimum asset performance. You will play a critical role in contributing to updating of the Council's Asset Management Plan, alongside enabling timely decisions on acquisitions, disposal, transformation and rationalisation of the Council Assets.
You will develop reporting mechanisms on asset performance and work on preparing reports for Cabinet, Committees, Corporate Boards and senior Leadership. You'll work with colleagues to ensure the maximisation of income generating opportunities through leases, licences and commercialisation of assets, ensuring that Derby City Council has fit for purpose Property Assets for our teams to be able to deliver their vital services for the people of Derby.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have...
• Leadership experience in asset management and planning or similar
• Good experience and knowledge of estate management ideally with local government
• The ability to review, develop and implement a corporate property strategy
• RICS Accredited Degree or Qualification in Estates Management
• Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) is preferable but not essential.
• Proven experience in writing and delivering reports for Cabinet committees or equivalent
• Strategic thinking, team player and effective communication and collaboration skills
