What you'll do

As a Supported Housing Assistant, you'll play a vital role in helping residents feel safe, supported, and connected within our schemes. Working alongside Supported Housing Officers, you'll provide day-to-day assistance, carry out wellbeing checks, and help new residents settle in. Your focus will be on creating a caring environment where people can thrive, while ensuring compliance with health and safety and housing standards.

How you'll do it
  • Welcome new residents and ensure they settle in comfortably.
  • Carry out regular welfare and health and safety checks in line with policy.
  • Identify support needs and signpost residents to appropriate services.
  • Report repairs and maintain communal areas to create inviting spaces.
  • Monitor contractors and contribute to continuous improvement of services.
  • Promote safeguarding principles and attend multi-agency meetings as required.
  • Support tenancy sustainment by helping residents understand their rights and obligations.
  • Assist with void property management and lettings procedures.
  • Coordinate on-site activities that enrich residents' lives and foster community.

Pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role may require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there may be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification.

Essential:
  • Experience providing customer-focused support in social care or social housing.
  • Good understanding of the needs of vulnerable residents.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply relevant legislation and best practice.
  • Effective IT skills, including basic MS Office.
  • Numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ2.
Desirable:
  • Social care or similar qualification relevant to the customer group.
