Cobalt is a Cheltenham based medical charity celebrating its 60th anniversary and we are looking to recruit to our team. The role is key to helping us grow our voluntary income now and in the future so we can continue to change lives through our work.

Main duties of the job

As Cobalts Trusts and Foundation Officer you will be responsible for generating income from trusts and foundation and you will play a pivotal role in driving the trust fundraising efforts to new heights. Your primary responsibilities will include identifying and cultivating relationships with potential trust supporters, developing compelling funding proposals, and providing exemplary stewardship to existing donors. You will be at the forefront of our efforts to secure funding from trusts and foundations to support our work.

Job Title: Trusts and Foundations Officer

Main Place of Work: Linton House Clinic, Thirlestaine Road, Cheltenham, GL53 7AS and such other areas as required.

Responsible to: Head of Fundraising

Accountable to: Chief Executive, Cobalt Health

Line management

There is no line management responsibilities associated with this role

Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for generating income from trusts and foundation and will playa pivotal role in driving the trust fundraising efforts to new heights. Your primaryresponsibilities will include identifying and cultivating relationships with potential trustsupporters, developing compelling funding proposals, and providing exemplarystewardship to existing donors. You will be at the forefront of our efforts to securefunding from trusts and foundations to support our work.

Key Relationships

Cobalt staff team, patients, volunteers, donors and supporters

Key areas of responsibility will include:

Operational Duties

  • Build strong, long-term relationships with Trusts and Foundations through regulartelephone and face-to-face contact, communications, networking, written updates andother feedback as appropriate.
Research and understand the funding needs of the charity, including corefunding, projects, and capital expenditure by working closely with the operationaland clinical teams.

Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of internalstakeholders.

Research potential trust funders (local, regional, national, and if appropriateinternational).

Help design and deliver effective processes for applications management andreporting, including the Thank You Process.

Identify high quality trust applications: communicate the charitys funding needsin a clear, consistent way to potential trust funders through high quality fundingapplications, events and communications.

Administration

Oversee the administration of grants and grant expenditure, with relevantdepartments such as Finance and Operations, to ensure compliance with grantterms and conditions.

Use the charitys CRM database to manage all relationships (both individual andorganisational), ensuring all records are kept up to date.

Gather information required to develop powerful funding proposals andmonitoring reports.

Develop compelling case for support and tailored fundraising proposals to matchfunder interests and leverage gifts from Trusts and Foundations.

Maximise income from a broad and established portfolio of grant-makers,

Use a range of research tools to proactively identify and research newopportunities.

Assume responsibility for a portfolio of active, lapsed and prospective trustdonors to maintain, grow and/or revive their support for Cobalt.

Through excellent management skills to establish and maintain relationshipswith new and existing grant makers, with full responsibility for all aspects ofdonor care.

Ensure high quality, individually tailored cultivation and stewardship of donors.Support the planning and delivery of donor visits, events, and meetings.

Ensure all gifts are appropriately acknowledged and recognised. Ensure theterms and conditions and reporting requirements of all grants are recorded,monitored and fulfilled and that donors are kept informed of all key developments.

Provide accurate, timely and informative monitoring reports and updates fordonors.

Follow restricted funding procedures and liaise with the finance team lead toensure all funding is allocated appropriately, expenditure evidenced andreported clearly to donors.

A willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required (time off inlieu will be given).

The endof year appraisal will include a personal development review where progress made overthe last year is discussed and agreed. Focus on the following years departmental andpersonal objectives will be identified, discussed and agreed.

You are expected to maintain competency, learning new techniques and technology asrequired and retain records of continuing professional development (cpd) to ensurecontinuity of membership to your professional organisation.

All staff are encouraged to participate in training/activities that will help develop theirwider skills and assist them in managing their personal welfare and be attentive to thewelfare of colleagues.

Completion of Cobalt Healths mandatory training programme.
