The Role - Housing Support Worker (St Mary's) - Night Shifts Our St Mary's Hostel in Bangor is a self-referral hostel providing support and accommodation to 13 homeless people, creating support plans based on individual needs whilst helping them to find somewhere more permanent to live. You will be committed to putting the customer at the heart of everything you do by contributing towards the delivery of a person-centred trauma informed support in a 24-hr homeless hostel. This will involve: <ul><li>Supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, by encouraging healthy activities and lifestyles, and signposting to services</li><li>Assisting with claims for housing and associated benefits to support residents' financial stability</li><li>Organising and managing a range of engaging activities to promote social inclusion</li><li>Playing a hands-on role in responding to incidents, completing room checks and ensuring properties are maintained</li><li>Maintaining accurate service user records and files</li><li>Performing regular security and fire safety checks</li></ul>The Role - Housing Support Worker (Pendinas) - Night Shifts Working at Pendinas Hostel in Bangor, you'll support people with their housing needs and life skills in a person-centred, trauma informed way and contribute to the safe running of the hostel. This will involve: <ul><li>Supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, by encouraging healthy activities and lifestyles, and signposting to services</li><li>Assisting with claims for housing and associated benefits to support residents' financial stability</li><li>Organising and managing a range of engaging activities to promote social inclusion</li><li>Playing a hands-on role in responding to incidents, completing room checks and ensuring properties are maintained</li><li>Maintaining accurate service user records and files</li><li>Performing regular security and fire safety checks</li><li>In the absence of the Housing Support Officer (Pendinas), during out of hours, deputising the support of care leavers in 277 projects</li></ul>The Package <ul><li>Permanent contract </li><li>24 hours per week (Friday and Saturday Night) St Mary's Hostel / 24 hours per week (Sunday and Monday Night) St Mary's Hostel / 24 hours per week (Friday and Saturday Night) Pendinas Hostel</li><li>Salary of £23,609 pro rata</li><li>Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)</li><li>Benefits platform with savings on groceries, high-street shopping, new tech, holidays etc.</li><li>Further studies support and career development opportunities </li><li>Employee health assistance and Annual Leave purchase scheme</li><li>Enhanced maternity and paternity pay </li><li>Generous contributory pension scheme</li></ul>Our Requirements - Housing Support Worker <ul><li>Either have the ability to hold at least basic conversations in Welsh (although you may struggle to keep up fully) or be currently learning / willing to learn Welsh</li><li>Experience working in a client centred environment such as housing, care or similar (e.g., supporting individuals in reporting maintenance issues, making healthcare appointments, pursuing hobbies, securing training and employment, etc.) for individuals suffering or recovering from mental illness.</li><li>Experience of supporting people to make benefit claims.</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Hard working, with a positive 'can do attitude'.</li><li>At least have basic IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook</li></ul>Although not essential, experience of general housing management gained in either public or private sector, as well as experience providing engagement / social inclusion activities would be desirable.
