Housing Support Worker

Housing Standards Officers play a critical role in ensuring rented housing across Cheshire East meets a safe living standard. The role is to educate, engage and encourage landlords to provide safe housing, and take enforcement action where it is needed to deal with breaches in legislation. Good quality homes can have positive impacts on people's health - and conversely, poorly maintained homes can exacerbate poor physical and mental wellbeing. The Housing Standards team work across a diverse housing sector, but primarily with low-income households in private rented housing, to make sure people's health isn't made worse by poor quality housing. We are recruiting 2 Housing Standards Officers to drive up standards across the rented sector, ensure compliance in how Houses in Multiple Occupation are managed, and tackle issues caused by empty homes. To be successful in this role, you will bring your construction / housing enforcement knowledge and your negotiation and interpersonal skills to effectively manage all stakeholders in the enforcement process, including tenants, private landlords, registered providers of social housing, other accommodation providers, Fire Service, Police, and other Council departments. The role will provide the opportunity to work on a diverse range of cases both in the office and on site in people's homes. You will need good organisational, report writing and IT skills and attention to detail. You will work as part of a team of 6 Housing Standards Officers, 2 Assistant Housing Standards Officers, a Duty Assistant and a Team Leader, as well as colleagues in the wider Housing service who deliver adaptations, domestic retrofit, hoarding support, and housing options. 'Auf wiedersehen' and he was gone! The Role: As a Social Worker in our Joint Homelessness Team, you can make your own powerful contribution in the lives of rough sleepers in Westminster. Losing work, relationship breakdown, traumatic life events, mental ill health, or problems with drugs and alcohol can push people already on the brink into rough sleeping. Together with our charity partners, we work to offer accommodation and support services that help people leave homelessness behind. We offer a wide range of housing and outreach support services to help homeless people regain their independence - from day centres and hostels, to specialist supported housing services for people with mental health problems, learning disabilities and young homeless people. We also offer counselling to help people overcome drug and alcohol addiction, befriending services and employment and skills training. Senior Childcare Practitioner - Children's Residential Home Location: Walkden, Manchester Provision: Children's Residential Home (Ages 7-17, EBD &amp; Mild Learning Difficulties) Hours: 8 am to 8 pm and Occasional 8 am to 8pm + sleep in Salary: £27,144 - £36,192 base 8-10 sleep-ins/month (£52 per sleep) Potential take-home: Up to £41,184 per annum • About the Role Are you an experienced Residential Support Worker looking to take the next step in your career? As a Senior Childcare Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD). You will be a role model, mentor, and key worker, ensuring the best possible care and outcomes for the children. What We're Looking For • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent - see below) • Experience working with children in residential care or similar settings • Ability to manage challenging behaviours and create a nurturing environment • Full UK Driving Licence (Essential) • Fluency in English (with the ability to understand UK dialects) • Minimum Age: 22/23 (in line with regulatory requirements) Alternative Qualifications Considered: If you hold a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Social Care, we will consider your application if you can demonstrate experience working with children.
