This will include providing housing advice to people in the district and completing investigations into applications from customers who are at risk of homelessness as defined by the statutory duties under Housing Act 1996 Part VII, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and relevant case law. The successful postholder will provide support to the Council in delivering its statutory homelessness duties by taking homeless applications in an effective manner and ensuring the council is legally compliant, and meeting performance targets and standards. Key Requirements: <ul><li>To provide a professional and effective housing options interview and homelessness investigation, taking a full application from customers and ensuring duties are carried out at the relevant stages within homelessness legislation.</li><li>To undertake detailed casework with customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. This includes an assessment of legal duties owed, housing and support needs, the production of Personal Housing Plans and consideration of all suitable interventions and potential solutions to prevent homelessness.</li><li>To write and issue all required notifications, letters of referral to other authorities where the customer's local connection lies elsewhere and outcome letters to advise the customer of the outcome of their initial interview. Homelessness Prevention Officer

You will be part of a team working with households presenting to the Housing Options Service who are threatened with homelessness to try and prevent them losing their accommodation, ensuring a comprehensive homelessness prevention service is offered. For those with no accommodation you will assist them with finding new accommodation. You will have a caseload of households that you will be responsible for, working with them to secure the best possible outcome to address their housing needs. You will work closely with other support services to ensure the best outcome for the household. You will carry out homelessness assessments in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act, 2017, carrying out prevention and relief duties and issuing notification letters. You will work closely with accommodation providers including those in the private sector to increase the supply of properties available to customers of the service. You will have excellent communication skills and will be able to manage customer expectations, working with customers to resolve their housing need. You will be able to work under pressure in a busy service, managing multiple demands and prioritising your workload to ensure that you meet statutory deadlines. The post holder will be expected to carry out extensive outreach to various locations within Glasgow City to encourage engagement from clients.
