Help people rebuild their lives - one home at a time.

At Maninplace, we believe everyone deserves a safe place to call home and the opportunity to move forward with dignity. For more than 19 years, we've been supporting people experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping across Telford & Wrekin, helping them take positive steps towards independent living.

We're looking for a compassionate, practical and resilient Housing Officer to join our Accommodation Team. This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll manage our temporary accommodation, support customers to sustain their tenancies, and ensure our properties remain safe, welcoming and well maintained.

If you're someone who enjoys making a genuine difference while working independently as part of a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing

As a Housing Officer, you'll be responsible for both property management and customer support, helping create safe accommodation and positive outcomes for the people we work with.

Your role will include:
Property & Accommodation Management
  • Preparing accommodation for new customers, including cleaning, decorating and minor repairs.
  • Carrying out regular property inspections and health & safety checks.
  • Completing weekly fire safety checks and ensuring compliance.
  • Undertaking minor maintenance and reporting larger repairs.
  • Maintaining clean, safe and welcoming accommodation.
  • Managing waste, recycling and monthly deep cleans.
  • Recording utility meter readings and reporting any issues.
Supporting Customers
  • Welcoming customers into accommodation and helping them settle in.
  • Developing and reviewing personalised accommodation plans.
  • Supporting customers to build confidence and independent living skills.
  • Helping customers manage rent, utilities and financial commitments.
  • Completing tenancy reviews and promoting successful move-on outcomes.
  • Signposting customers to specialist support services when needed.
Safety & Community
  • Responding professionally to anti-social behaviour.
  • Promoting safe environments for customers, colleagues and neighbouring communities.
  • Building positive relationships with local residents.
  • Supporting vulnerable people with empathy, respect and professionalism.
Administration & Teamwork
  • Maintaining accurate customer and property records.
  • Using Microsoft Office and internal systems confidently.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation.
  • Contributing ideas to improve services and customer outcomes.
What we're looking for

You'll be someone who enjoys practical work, is confident making decisions independently, and genuinely wants to help people achieve positive change.
Essential
  • Experience working independently or as a lone worker.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
  • Basic DIY skills such as painting, decorating and assembling furniture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Calm, professional and resilient under pressure.
  • A person-centred, non-judgemental approach.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle with business insurance.
  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
  • Experience within housing, homelessness or supported accommodation services.
  • Cleaning experience within residential, care or hospitality settings.
  • Knowledge of Telford & Wrekin.
  • Understanding of homelessness and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of health, fire and safety in residential settings.
  • Experience using CCTV systems.
