Independent Reviewing Officer Role Responsibility Kent's Independent Reviewing Service is seeking to recruit a full-time permanent Independent Reviewing Officer. This post provides an exciting opportunity to influence the delivery of good social work practice and promote positive outcomes for children and young people in our care. Successful applicants will be part of a large and supportive team. In order to apply for this post, you must have a recognised Social Work qualification, be Registered with Social Work England and have extensive experience of working within Children's Services (including with Children in Care) and have Team Leader/Manager/Supervisory experience. You will have proven skills in chairing complex multi-agency meetings and a knowledge of current children's legislation and practice. You will have excellent written and verbal communication, IT skills and the ability to prioritise your own work and respond to tight deadlines. You will remain objective whilst developing effective working relationships with Social Workers, their managers and other professionals involved in promoting the safety and welfare of children in care. Kent is a large authority, and it will be necessary in your role as IRO to travel across a relatively wide geographical area. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England. Independent Reviewing Officer

The Role Our Independent Living Advisors provide high quality information, advice and support to both referring Health &amp; Social Care professionals and vulnerable eligible customers who are considering participating in Self Directed Support Schemes, Independent Living Schemes, Personal Health Budgets and self-funded/private clients, over a designated area. We are looking for individuals with a background in social care who can support adults with disabilities to live independently in their local communities. What does the role involve? • Providing a person-centred service that enables individuals to focus on the outcomes they wish to achieve; supporting with establishing a care and/or support plan that helps the person we support meet these outcomes in a cost-effective and safe manner • Managing a caseload within a geographic area, including visits to people we support's homes, local authority offices and other community locations in Kent • Assisting people we support to manage their obligations and responsibilities in relation to their chosen care package • Obtaining and collating information for caseload management and reports on a daily basis, utilising chosen PeoplePlus and/or designated databases • Maintaining accurate records of all communication with people we support utilising chosen PeoplePlus and/or designated databases • Ensuring all information given is clear and concise and in a format that meets the individual communication needs of the person you are supporting. • Ensuring all information is factually correct and in accordance with PeoplePlus guidelines and current legislation • Organising and attending meetings and/or reviews with people we support, colleagues and other professionals as required.
