The Role - Housing Support Officer College Road, Bangor is a scheme consisting of 3 self-contained flats providing support and accommodation to 3 people who have lived a chaotic life and have extensive needs. You will create support plans based on individual needs whilst helping them to find somewhere more permanent to live. You'll support people with their housing needs and life skills in a person-centred, trauma informed way and contribute to the safe running of the hostel. This will involve: <ul><li>Supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, by encouraging healthy activities and lifestyles, and signposting to services</li><li>Assisting with claims for housing and associated benefits to support residents' financial stability</li><li>Organising and managing a range of engaging activities to promote social inclusion</li><li>Playing a hands-on role in responding to incidents, completing safety checks and ensuring properties are maintained</li><li>Maintaining accurate service user records and files</li><li>Performing regular security and fire safety checks</li></ul>The Package <ul><li>Permanent contract </li><li>Salary of £25,107 per annum </li><li>Minimum of 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)</li><li>Benefits platform with savings on groceries, high-street shopping, new tech, holidays etc.</li><li>Further studies support and career development opportunities </li><li>Annual leave and cycle to work scheme</li><li>Employee health assistance scheme</li><li>Enhanced maternity and paternity pay </li><li>Generous contributory pension scheme</li></ul>Our Requirements - Housing Support Officer <ul><li>To be able to speak Welsh to at least a level 3.</li><li>Experience working in a client centred environment such as housing, care or similar (e.g., supporting individuals in reporting maintenance issues, making healthcare appointments, pursuing hobbies, securing training and employment, etc.) for individuals suffering or recovering from mental illness.</li><li>Experience of supporting people to make benefit claims.</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Hard working, with a positive 'can do attitude'.</li><li>At least have basic IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook</li></ul>At North Wales Housing we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of service users. This will involve: <ul><li>Supporting service users with mental health and wellbeing, by encouraging healthy activities and lifestyles, and signposting to services</li><li>Assisting with claims for housing and associated benefits to support residents' financial stability</li><li>Organising and managing a range of engaging activities to promote social inclusion</li><li>Playing a hands-on role in responding to incidents, completing room checks and ensuring properties are maintained</li><li>Maintaining accurate service user records and files</li><li>Performing regular security and fire safety checks</li><li>In the absence of the Housing Support Officer (Pendinas), during out of hours, deputising the support of care leavers in 277 projects </li></ul>Our Requirements - Housing Support Worker <ul><li>Ability to hold everyday conversations in Welsh </li><li>Experience working in a client centred environment such as housing, care or similar (e.g., supporting individuals in reporting maintenance issues, making healthcare appointments, pursuing hobbies, securing training and employment, etc.)</li><li>Knowledge of the support needs of vulnerable people</li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills</li><li>Hard working, with a positive 'can do attitude'</li><li>At least have basic IT skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook</li></ul>Although not essential, an awareness of issues and support needs connected to homelessness and awareness of fire safety and security systems would be highly advantageous.
