Job Title: Chef (Independent Living Retirement facility) Location: Lytham St Annes (Links View) Job Type: Part-time (15 hours per week) Salary: £12.21 per hour Reports To: Chef/Kitchen Manager &amp; Operations Management Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our team at a residential retirement facility, where nutritious, well-balanced meals are a key part of the high standard of service we provide to our residents. The successful candidate will be passionate about food, committed to hygiene and safety standards, and sensitive to the dietary needs of elderly and vulnerable individuals. Key Responsibilities: <ul> <li>Plan, prepare, and cook meals in accordance with dietary requirements, preferences, and nutritional guidelines.</li> <li>Working under own initiative with the guidance of the Chef/Kitchen Manager and Operations Management.</li> <li>Design weekly menus in collaboration with Chef/Kitchen Manager and Operations Management, ensuring a variety of nutritionally balanced meals and maintaining budgetary control.</li> <li>Ensure food is served on time (service commences at 12:15pm) and at the correct temperature.</li> <li>Cater to specific dietary needs including diabetic-friendly meals, and allergy-aware dishes.</li> <li>Produce for buffets and themed events for special days and functions periodically under guidance from Chef/Manager.</li> <li>Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times (we currently have and wish to maintain our 5-star hygiene rating).</li> <li>Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP) and internal policies.</li> <li>Monitor and manage stock levels, portion control, monthly stock takes, ordering supplies as needed in the absence of Chef/Kitchen Manager. Also, minimizing waste/over production when producing dishes at all times.</li> <li>Liaise with Chef/Kitchen Manager and Operations Management to receive feedback and make necessary adjustments to meals.</li> <li>Supervise service assistants or support staff during shifts.</li> <li>Proactive in daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules</li> </ul>Requirements: <ul> <li>Proven experience as a chef, preferably in a residential establishment.</li> <li>NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent qualification).</li> <li>Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher).</li> <li>Knowledge of dietary requirements for older adults and those with medical conditions.</li> <li>Excellent organizational and time management skills.</li> <li>Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.</li> <li>Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to elderly people.</li></ul>Desirable: <ul> <li>Experience working with older clientele with varied dietary needs.</li> <li>First Aid training.</li> <li>Familiarity with CQC standards (Care Quality Commission).</li></ul>Working Hours: 6.30am - 2.30pm, 2 days per week including weekend working (including a half hour break). Part Time Chef - Independent Living Retirement

<ul><li>LCC542_SHIP_Coordinator_</li></ul>The SHIP Co-ordinator will be responsible for leading on and delivering the Supported Housing Improvement Project (SHIP) across Lancaster and Preston over the next two years. The Co-ordinator will lead a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), including staff from housing standards, housing options, adult social care, fire and rescue service and housing benefits. The co-ordinator will have line management responsibility of the 2 x administrators and provide direction and guidance to other MDT members in relation to the project. The Co-ordinator will manage the delivery of SHIP to provide a joined-up approach to improving quality and standards within the non-commissioned supported housing sector. In particular, the short term or transitional market, where clients are provided with accommodation on a short-term basis, usually up to a maximum of two years. There is often a high turnover of clients within this market. The project will provide a range of skills and expertise from different services, that will help facilitate positive changes in the provision and management of supported housing across Lancaster and Preston. Applicants should have experience of commissioning or management of supported housing, managing projects, producing reports and presenting to a range of audiences. A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit supported housing schemes in Lancaster and Preston and travel to council offices. As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability. This post is temporary until the end of March 2027. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday - Friday 9.00am-5.00pm. This post is based at Lancaster Town Hall. For internal applicants, this role will be considered for a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to. When this role comes to an end, the successful internal applicant will return to their substantive role.
