Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Provide Line management support to the Learning and Development Trainers, undertaking one to one meetings, appraisals and performance management.
  • Provide day to day support to the Learning and Development Trainers in dealing with enquiries, providing guidance to learners with regards to learning.
  • Manage the coordination of Trust Induction programmes, including ensuring the new starters have been booked to attend all appropriate learning and development activities for their role.
  • Design and develop the delivery method of Learning and development activities for specialist areas of responsibility.
  • Lead the design and delivery of train the trainer / cascade trainer programmes for both clinical and non-clinical subjects across the Trust.
  • Support the Learning and Development Trainers to maintain their competence in their areas of specialism.
  • To develop the assessment approach in recording the competence of employees as part of the learning and development activities.
  • Implement the agreed evaluation methods to monitor the effectiveness of Learning and Development training programmes.
  • Responsible for maintaining own knowledge and skills to ensure ongoing competence.
  • Oversee arrangements for courses facilitated by external providers, liaising with the providers as required, under the supervision of the learning and development officer.
  • Provide management oversight of the administrative support to the learning and development team:
  • Able to receive, understand and interpret highly complex information.
  • Communicates at all levels of stakeholders including patients and carers.
  • Responsible for providing timely statistical data from Electronic Staff Record (ESR)/ Oracle Systems to Senior Stakeholders.
  • Monitor office management systems, adhering to audit requirements where necessary, including learning and development resources and training records
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, always maintain a professional manner.
  • Ensure the learning and development teams resources are maintained and purchase orders are appropriately raised as required with the approval of the budget holder.
  • Provide management information as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • National Qualifications Framework Level 2, or equivalent, in English and Maths (e.g. GCSC Grade A - C) • Foundation Degree/ HND qualification or demonstrable experience in a relevant subject e.g. Health and Social care, Education and Training. • Management qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Coaching / mentoring qualification
Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous line management experience. • Working in a health and social care setting delivering direct care and support. • Demonstrable experience in designing and delivering training to meet needs of a diverse group of learners. • Solutions focussed, able to work in a proactive way to overcome barriers and challenges. • Receiving and interpreting highly complex information. • Able to communicate at all levels of Stakeholders including Patients and Carers. • Experience of regularly providing timely statistical data from Electronic Staff Record (ESR)/ Oracle systems to senior stakeholders. • Working in a customer facing role. • Able to work to deadlines and handle multiple priorities. • Experience of working with various IT systems including Microsoft applications. • Experience of teaching adults. • Facilitating group events. • Project / teamwork.
Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of current national trends, issues and training and development requirements relating to the NHS. • Knowledge of best practice within training and development • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, inc. Outlook, Word, Excel
